Berkeley Springs Chamber of Commerce

The Berkeley Springs Chamber of Commerce has displayed to the entire town of Berkeley Springs that not only do they lack a spine when standing up to hate groups but they are willing to hurt the towns tourism by welcoming the white nationalist hate group VDARE into town with open arms. The Chamber has gone as far as to allow Lydia Brimelow's shell non-profit the "Berkeley Springs Castle Foundation" to join the Chamber of Commerce.

This is during the active legal matter of the People VS VDARE, INC where the New York state Attorney General is investigating the potentially illegal transfer of the Castle from the hate group VDARE to the Berkeley Springs Castle Foundation. The headquarters of VDARE is still the Castle. The Chamber of Commerce's unwillingness to stand up to Lydia and VDARE is a stain on our entire community as it shows the Chamber of Commerce values verified known hate groups over its community and businesses.

When requested for comment, the Chamber of Commerce responded "...We are an inclusive organization that welcomes diverse businesses and non-profits who meet our clearly established membership criteria and uphold our core values..." acknowledging that their core values align with VDARE a documented white nationalist based hate group.

We are saddened and disappointed that the core values of the Chamber's Board of Directors align with documented hate groups whose members advocate for bombing American Institutions. We must insist that the Board of Directors of the Berkeley Springs Chamber of Commerce publicly apologize to the people of Berkeley Springs for their severe violations of ethics and decency. It is a troubling response to publicly state that their core values align with VDARE as this tarnishes the reputation of our town.

Country Inn

The Country Inn has been working directly with VDARE and its shell companies such as the "Bath Christmas Project" since VDARE first moved to Berkeley Springs WV as early as 2021. Sometimes people in town feel like VDARE has more say in what goes on in the Country Inn than the management itself does.

According anonymous insider tips Lydia Brimelow will often provide detailed instructions for the guests of her conferences and the Country Inn employees are told they must comply even if it violates their personal moral codes. Further more the Country Inn is putting the lives and security of their guests (many of which are families with young children) at risk by inviting radical far-right extremist to come to the Country Inn.

Matthew Omps

Matthew Omps is the manager of the Country Inn in Berkeley Springs WV and also a local real estate agent. Through his management position at the Country Inn in Berkeley Springs West Virginia he has started working directly with Lydia Brimelow to arrange lodging and transportation for the radical white nationalists, prominent Holocaust deniers, and other right wing extremists that VDARE hosts at their conferences.

Scott Collinash

Scott Collinash is the chef at the Country Inn and a co-founder of Berkeley Springs Pride group. Scott tries to create the image of being an accepting person. A direct example of this in Scott's own words is he has recently "been working to have a nondiscrimination ordinance passed in the Town of Bath."

However he also spends time defending those who promote openly racist and hateful ideologies such as Peter and Lydia Brimelow of VDARE. Unfortunately good and noble actions do not negate defending the reputation of white nationalists. In the case of VDARE Scott has taken his stance to the extreme by volunteering to be quoted by the Washington Post to defend Lydia Brimelow on the national stage. Scott justifies this action on Peter and Lydia not personally being mean to him. In Scott's own words to the Washington Post he says "I'm sure they both know that I'm gay, and they have not said anything to me" and "They have caused me no trouble at all. And they have caused Berkeley Springs Pride no trouble at all either."

This exemplifies Scott Collinash's belief that if he does not feel personally targeted then there is no proof that someone is behaving in a hateful way. Scott on his own initiative has gone on record with the Washington Post, a newspaper of record, to make the claim that the documented white nationalist Lydia Brimelow is "a delightful woman."

Scott's own words and choices demonstrates that he values his own personal comfort and friendships with open fascists over the safety, well-being, and rights of his own community. Scott counters this by making the claim that the Castle Watchers are conflating "react[ing] with kindness to all people" with having "friendships with racist and fascist." This is an intellectually dishonest claim. Volunteering your time to speak with a newspaper of record to laud a white nationalist is not simply "react[ing] with kindness to all people." It clearly demonstrates his willingness to use his own reputation to defend white nationalists such as VDARE and the Brimelows.

Anonymous sources inside the Berkeley Springs Pride group have reported that Scott has stonewalled any attempt to directly condemn VDARE publicly, making it impossible for the local Pride group to stand with LGBT people who actually live there. VDARE's record on on gay people as well as LGBT people in general speak for itself. Even Berkeley Springs Pride, the very group that Scott co-founded, has indirectly refuted Scott's portrayal of VDARE and their pride group in the Washington Post. Meanwhile Scott selfishly only cares about how anything impacts him personally. He is an ideal tool to be used by far-right extremists like Lydia and Peter Brimelow to carry out their messaging.

Barbara "Barb" Mozier Taylor Wolfe

Barbara Wolfe aka Barb used to own a tourist shop named "Berkeley Springs Memories" in the downtown area of Berkeley Springs next to Charlie's Mountain Laurel Artisans. Barb's sister is a well known local icon Jeanne Mozier. From helping to establish the "Morgan Arts Council" to being the founding president of "Morgan County Visitors and Convention Bureau" her sister's legacy runs strong through our town. It is a shame that her sister Barbara Wolfe would go on to stain not only her sister's proud legacy as well as our entire town by letting everyone know just how deep her racism runs. In the summer of 2020 Berkeley Springs hosted a Black Lives Matter rally. The town of Berkeley Springs has had Black Lives matter protests before, but this time Barbara Wolfe went to her shop with her husband and "guarded their shop with guns." While the 2020 Black Lives Matter protest was a completely peaceful protest, Barbara Wolfe and her husband reacted with extreme and irrational fear over the idea that people who thought Black lives mattered would be doing such scary actions such as speaking in the park, and gathering peacefully. That day many agitators showed up, many of them armed to protest the idea of a Black Lives Matter event. Many of them coming from out of town to disrupt Berkeley Springs.

Barb Wolfe has gone on to leave no doubt in her racist intentions by making sure she was quoted by the Washington Post, a paper of record. When they came to town to ask about the documented hate group VDARE. Barb made intellectually dishonest statements to the journalist such as "They are not white supremacists. They’re anti-immigration. They don’t like people just coming over the borders. There’s a lot of people like that." Saying VDARE and the Brimelows are not "white supremacists" they are just "anti-immigration" is a common but lackluster talking point of professional racists. For many years and has been a key talking point for Peter Brimelow himself. Such claims can even be traced directly to modern Nazis in Germany. The claim that ones racism is actually just being "anti-immigrant" is a claim that racists have overplayed for so long that it almost seems like those who say it are mocking the intelligence of others. One can only guess where Barbara Wolfe may have picked up such a talking point to give to the Washington Post herself, but it is most likely something she learned to say while associating with white nationalist such as Lydia Brimelow.

Barbara Wolfe went onto continue her quote to the Washington Post claiming that she doesn't care if white nationalists move into Berkeley Springs because "Whatever they want to do, it’s not my concern." A supremely selfish and self severing statement, easily disproved by her previous displays of racist actions and statements published in the Washington Post as detailed earlier in this section. A complete disgrace to her sister's legacy of making Berkeley Springs the lovely, friendly and accepting tourist destination that it would grow to become.

Knights of Columbus Council No. 12191

After a change in leadership to the Knights of Columbus between 2020 and 2021 the Knights and some of their officers have been known to be unwavering supporters of Lydia Brimelow and VDARE. The Warden Curtis Perry and Recorder Larry Landon can often be seen role playing as Lydia Brimelow's personal security guards in and around Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Knights of Columbus have gone so far as to even solicit donations from Lydia Brimelow and post her image proudly on the Parish website of Saint Vincent de Paul as a donor at "Apple Butter Festival 2022." In their own words they are "... incredibly grateful to our donors and benefactors ..." indicating they are grateful to work with white nationalists and extremists such as Lydia Brimelow.

As far as anyone in town knows, the actions of the Knights of Columbus and its members involving its proud association with VDARE's Chief Editor Lydia Brimelow does not involve the Parish at large.

Curtis Perry

Curtis Perry is known in the Town of Bath as one of the most vocal supporters of VDARE as well as Peter and Lydia Brimelow. Curtis Perry will often claim the "liberal media" is trying to smear the reputation of Peter and Lydia and if you just got to know them better as he has, you would understand that they are "very good people." Many in people in town are afraid to challenge Curtis' loud and boisterous support of VDARE and Peter specifically. As Curtis is both a Warden and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus it can be assumed that donations supplied through Lydia Brimelow to the Knights of Columbus could easily be rejected if he did not support her message of white nationalism and hate. Curtis will often try to hide behind the idea that Lydia and Peter are not the same thing as the VDARE Foundation while choosing to ignore they have dedicated their life to extremist hate.

Curtis is also known in town for his previous ownership of Maria's Bistro and Inn. However recently due to his old age he only lives in the Inn while designating new Inn Keepers.

Larry Landon

Larry Landon has appointed himself as the "Head of Security" to Saint Vincent de Paul's Church, he is also the Recorder for the Knights of Columbus. As far as anyone knows this "Head of Security" is a role he has invented for himself with no real need outside of his pathetic desire to wield authority over others and curry favor with Lydia Brimelow. Larry also holds some level of political power as he he sits on the Berkeley Springs Planning Commission making people afraid to speak out against him. Working with and serving white nationalists from abroad is a fitting end for a man well known in the veterans community for his uncontrollable rage and disgrace to the uniform.

Mountain Laurel Artisans

Mountain Laurel Artisans is owned by Charles A Curia and Sue Swick Evans. Mountain Laurel Artisans will often promote various events at the VDARE Castle but will omit the VDARE ownership of the Castle. This is a transparent attempt at trying to normalize white nationalist extremism in Berkeley Springs. This may be one of the most vile types of support of the VDARE Castle as it may put those who do not know about the Castle in danger when they attend an event there while at the same time trying to normalize the hate-group in the Castle to those in town.

Mountain Laurel Artisans' support for the hate-group VDARE is based around its owner "Charles A Curia" who will often use their Facebook page to promote events at the Castle. Tickets are sold directly by Mountain Laurel Artisans. Mountain Laurel Artisans' shameless promotion of events in the Castle (which conveniently leave out the Castle ownership) can be seen here and speak loudly of their unquestioning support of VDARE and its ideology of hate:

Charles A Curia

Charles is a co-owner of Mountain Laurel Artisans. He mostly kept his politics under his hat until VDARE moved to Berkeley Springs WV. He has been quoted comparing the Pride Progress flag to the "Nazi Swastika" going so far as to "stand up inside to wave a hand-drawn sign with a swastika on it" at the Berkeley Springs Tourism Board. A action that he admits to in a manifesto he wrote and gave to HateWatch.org.

While many in town see Charles as an unassuming quiet man he has been increasing outspoken about his radical beliefs and more public of his hate of the LGBT community. He often will work with the VDARE Castle to help host and promote events through his business, Mountain Laurel Artisans.

Sue Swick Evans

Sue is the co-owner of Mountain Laurel Artisans. She tries to keep her politics veiled but will often rant hate speech at length. She claims that hosting events with the Berkeley Castle Foundation is not the same as VDARE even though the Castle is the Headquarters of VDARE and called the "Headquarters of the White Race" by Lydia Brimelow. This is so facetious and outrages that Sue must think the people around her are so beneath her intellect that they will believe anything. We have received multiple tips that before Sue Swick Evans became serious with Charles A Curia that his political leanings were not as extreme nor as public.

Sue Evans displays that she is an open christofascist by often using Facebook to post her political manifestos on both her personal and business pages, including her HLI, LLC (Humble, Laughing & Iridescent, LLC) Facebook page. This page is used to go on incoherent political diatribes that usually promote that promote the message that she accepts people not like her but her page features anti-LGBT materials such as graphics featuring words such as "Not Pride, Promise. Genesis 9:13." It is no surprise that such an openly hateful person would align herself with the views, agendas, and financial interests of the Brimelows and the Tanton Network.
